The IQ Hair Guarantee
We guarantee to replace any non-growing hair transplant follicular units at no extra cost. We perform the trichoscopy (12 months after the procedure) to count and assess the growth of the transplanted hair. In case some follicular units will not regrow (excluding a small, normal and acceptable deviation of 5%), a complimentary FUE hair transplant will be performed.
What are the points of excellence of our Trichoscopically Controlled FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)
Our Trichoscopically Controlled FUE is a minimally invasive technique where hair follicles are extracted individually from back of the head using specific designed tools with a diameter of less than 1mm. The hair follicles are then implanted directly into the thinning areas at an angle and density to mimic the natural hair growth pattern. Once transplanted, the hair will grow for lifetime because are genetically-resistant against baldness.
We perform the trichoscopy before the FUE hair transplant. The trichoscopy is a detailed dermoscopic examination of the hair and scalp under high power magnification with a hand-held microscope. During this evaluation:
- the existing density in different scalp regions is calculated
- the hair miniaturization in both the recipient and donor areas and hair abnormalities are analyzed
- donor capacity is measured
- frontal hairline and distribution of the hair follicles are determined
The results and findings of the trichoscopy are studied and analyzed, the images and measurements are saved and kept into an electronic file and are used evaluate growth progress, final result and future hair loss.
What is the IQ e-Hair Health Digital Booklet?
The IQ e-Hair Health Digital Booklet is an innovative tool that provides you with ongoing advice and help on monitoring your growth progress and hair loss. The primary goal is to maintain healthy hair, treat and prevent further hair loss.
It is a specially designed electronic folder that keeps all important information about your hair. It contains the results of the initial trichoscopy examination and laboratory tests prior to the FUE procedure. We recommend our patients to have regular laboratory tests (blood count, iron levels, ferritin, thyroid functions, testosterone levels, serum chemistries, DHEA-sulfate, prolactin, etc) and send us their photos. We do review these results and photos and offer treatment advice free of charge based on medications and supplements.
Multi-year experience & expertise
We are an international hair restoration centre with state-of-the-art facilities and an experienced medical team that operate according to international quality standards. Natural results and dense packing
Our Trichoscopically Controlled FUE method produces 100 % natural results and a lifetime growth. Our instruments ensure correct angle and direction of the transplanted hair follicles that match your hair growth. Depending on the degree of hair loss and donor site we can achieve very high density in the frontal part of the scalp, excellent temple angle closure and totally undetectable results.
Trichoscopy examination and pre-operative evaluation
Trichoscopy is a detailed dermoscopic examination of the hair and scalp. We perform the trichoscopy before the hair transplant to assess existing density, hair miniaturization in both the recipient and donor areas, hair abnormalities and donor capacity. Our comprehensive pre-surgical evaluation includes also a detailed review on your medical history and lab tests, hairline design based on your facial features, donor hair available and future hair loss.

Does FUE hair transplant leave visible scarring?
No. Follicular Units Extraction (FUE) is a minimally invasive technique where hair follicles are extracted one by one from the back of the head with specific microscopic tools. In Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT or “strip” technique) a strip of donor tissue is removed from the scalp resulting in a linear scar. The FUE method leaves no permanent and noticeable scar in the donor area.
Why to choose Athens for my hair transplant?
Athens is an excellent, accessible and safe location. Patients from the United States, Canada, Japan and Australia do not require a visa. It has a wonderful climate, unique cultural heritage sites and an amazing food. You can combine your hair transplant with great holidays.
Do you notice hair thinning in the donor area after the FUE?
Νο. It is possible to remove up to 40% of donor hair, without causing any visible thinning. 40% corresponds to an average of about 6000-7000 hair follicles, approximately 12,000-14,000 hairs.
How do you extract the follicles from the donor site?
We extract all hair follicles from the donor area which is at the back of the head. These follicles are genetically-resistant against baldness and maintain their properties after being transferred to the hair thinning areas, and therefore they never fall again.
We use advanced microscopes and special customized tools, allowing the extraction of individual hair follicles from the donor area and their implantation into the recipient areas. The customized tools have a diameter of 0.6 - 0.9 mm and separate the follicle from the surrounding tissue without causing any trauma and damage to the follicle. The procedure is performed using local anesthetic.
Is the procedure painful?
The FUE procedure is performed under local anesthesia. Some people say that this procedure is similar to visiting the dentist. The truth is that the mouth cavity is much more sensitive than the scalp. There is no pain during the procedure, only some discomfort when we administer the local anesthesia to the donor and recipient areas.
How long does the procedure last?
The treatment lasts between 4-7 hours depending on how many grafts are transplanted. If you have advanced pattern of hair loss, sufficient donor area or require dense packing, we can continue with a second day of treatment. This option is suitable if you would like to complete the hair transplant procedure in a single session rather than multiple sessions and achieve the desired result in a shorter amount of time
Do I require any hospitalization?
The FUE procedure does not require any hospitalization or overnight stays. You will be ready to leave the clinic shortly after the hair transplant.
When the healing is completed?
Both donor and recipient areas heal within 5-7 days. You can expect to see crusting and scabbing around the treated area after the session for 7 to 10 days and some redness that resembles a sunburn. You will be able to resume your normal daily activities almost immediately.
How long should I wait before washing my hair?
Upon completion of the procedure, the team provides you with post-operative instructions, and medications. A saline water spray will be provided to you as well. you can wash the donor area the following day and from the 3rd day you can wash all your hair gently. Everyday shampooing is required to keep your hair and scalp clean and helps with the healing process and hair growth.
Does the new hair implanted need a special treatment?
No. You will be able to treat the new hair normally as you did up until now, meaning that you will be able to wash it, brush it, dye it and style it as you wish.
Are the results permanent?
The result of the hair transplant is permanent. The new hair will maintain the same texture, color and characteristics. So, when the hair in the donor area will become white, also the hair in the recipient area will become white.
How natural is the result?
Our Trichoscopically Controlled FUE method produces 100 % natural results and a lifetime growth. Our instruments ensure correct angle and direction of the transplanted hair follicles that match your hair growth. We achieve an excellent temple angle closure and totally undetectable natural results.
When will I see the final results?
The majority of patients will notice substantial hair growth and more significantly visible coverage within 6 to 12 months after the procedure. Final results and full growth of the transplanted hair are seen at around 12 – 18 months.
